Waitemata Auckland Translation and Interpreting Service (WATIS) is managed by Waitemata DHB's Asian Health Support Services.

WATIS service provides:

• 24 hours 7 days a week call centre team who are dedicated to customer service
• Interpreting services covering 100+ dialects and languages to primary and secondary care services

	SINT - Onsite (Face to Face) Interpreting Service
	This service provides you with a language interpreter to be present at your meeting/ interview/ consultation to assist you to facilitate communication between two ore more parties face to face using either consecutive or simultaneous interpreting mode according to your needs. This is the most costly means of communication but is the most appropriate for communication exceeding 45 minutes and is effective in certain circumstances.
	TINT - Telephone (Conference Call) Interpreting Service
	This service provides you with a language interpreter to facilitate communication between two to five people via conference call system (Example: our call centre staff will connect you to the language interpreter and other parties as per your request). This is suitable for interpreting for communication not more than 45 minutes. It is most cost-effective means of interpreting but may not be appropriate to use in certain circumstances.
	APC - Appointment Confirmation Assignment
	This service provides you with a trained Interpreter to contact a client by telephone to confirm,cancel or reschedule an appointment. This service is very useful and cost effective for managing appointments and reducing clients /patients not showing up for the booked appointment.
	TA - Telephone Assignment
	This service provides you with a language interpreter to assist you will making 1-3 phone calls to the same clients on your behalf. This is particularly useful for reminding patients to take their medications or checking on their health status; or contacting client to complete a form etc). It is a useful method and cost effective way to support community health service providers, managing non-English speaking clients who are recovering at home and requiring some instructions or reminders.
	Documentation Translation
	This service provides you with qualified translation of written information, e.g. brochures, reports, etc. This usually you to accept the quotation provided before the service proceeds.
